A revitalized the Russian player secured his initial trophy for over two years with success over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament championship match.

Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has endured a difficult period, winning just one win at the big events and experiencing a meltdown at the US Open.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serving in especial - caused him dropping out of the elite rankings and finally separating with long-time mentor his previous coach.

Now collaborating with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently progressed in the last few weeks - peaking in a hard-fought competitive victory over challenger Corentin Moutet.

It is his first title since the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard court since that period of that year.

The win also means the Russian has won twenty-one titles at twenty-one distinct events.

"It's the first time I have attended a tournament with my children at once, so to win a trophy is really nice," commented world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in honour of my younger daughter Victoria, because the first title I got when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had failed in his past six finals, featuring in the German tournament previously this season.

His counter-punching approach and frequent emotional displays on the tennis court had caused commentators to question if his ability to perform at the highest level was concluded.

Yet the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, attempting to approach the net and compete assertively, reinforced by an better serve.

The champion recovered from a deficit in the initial set against the difficult Moutet, winning 4 of the final five games to go ahead.

The competitors exchanged break points in the middle set before Moutet, attempting for his initial ATP Tour victory, seized the initiative to force a third set.

The opponent defended four early-game chances in a close third set before the Russian secured a break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Suitably, he clinched victory with a shot at the net, with the Frenchman failing to manage a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
