An individual who contaminated treats with sleeping medication and gave them to children at a youth camp in Leicestershire has confessed to sexual offences against two boys aged between nine and ten.
Jon Ruben was detained after eight youngsters and one adult experienced illness at Stathern Lodge in the summer month.
The senior citizen, from that region, admitted guilt to a multiple criminal counts when he was present at the judicial center on Friday.
Yet, he disputed a single sexual charge he was facing, which was concerning a young boy.
The defendant was kept in jail before a additional proceeding on 28 November.
'Sweet game'
Mary Prior KC, handling the case, detailed the criminal behavior to the legal proceedings.
She explained his those affected were disadvantaged youngsters who were participating in a summer program which he operated.
Ruben played a "sweet game" with the minors, Mrs Prior explained, in which he would go into the boys' rooms when they were getting ready for bed and tell them to consume candy "as fast as possible".
She told the court Ruben had played this game with the boys "over an extended period", and minors had previously become sick the next day.
She said Ruben had been able to explain this repeatedly as the children being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepson had worries in summer 2025.
The legal representative added: "This year his stepson had worries about the activities, justifiably.
"They chose" to investigate in the defendant's belongings."
The legal counsel said materials including lubricant, petroleum jelly and medical needles were located, and his family member notified the authorities about his worries.
She stated the defendant went on to conduct the "candy game" with six children that time - July 26th - and they were all ill the subsequent day.
"The police had not responded by that point," she continued.
The regulatory agency, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, previously told that it was investigating law enforcement's management of the incident.
The prosecutor said the minors were struggling to walk due to being ill, so the stepson notified the law enforcement once more.
She said the man then conducted the "treat game" in a space of five minors.
